BPSU-hosted sustainability planning workshop successful

Sustainability Planning Workshop meets objectives; participants declare their commitment to iSchools.

The Bataan Peninsula State University, in its aim to encourage participation and support from the public high schools and local government units, hosted a three-day Sustainability Planning Workshop at Crown Royale Hotel in the City of Balanga last October 15-17.

Even with ninety-two percent of the expected participants composed of local government officials and public high school principals coming from the National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon and the Bicol Region, Miss Lydia A. Pinili, MIS Head and ICT Coordinator, said that the activity was a success. The workshop was designed for the participants to understand what the project is all about. It also aims to enable the stakeholders and participants to share information and inputs on existing national telecenter initiatives. Also undertaken during the activity was the formulation of sustainability plans that would help the participating schools in maintaining the iSchools Community eCenters and building their cluster teams. Also tackled during the culmination of the activity is the use of open source software.

By successfully equipping the participants with adequate knowledge on the project and the best possible ways to keep it going, stakeholders such as the Parent-Teachers-Community Association (PTCA), LGU officials and Division ICT Coordinators vowed their full support to the project. They said they are willing to provide all means to sustain iSchools.
